M 5.1 quake in Venezuela

 

A shallow magnitude-5.1 earthquake struck the Boconó Fault in Venezuela today, and was felt as far away as Caracas. This right-lateral transform fault ruptured in large, damaging earthquakes 6 times in the past 4 centuries, and so could do so again.
