M 6.6 quake offshore Java

 

A deep M 6.6 quake struck north of Java today. Shaking was felt throughout the island. The quake was deep enough to lie on the megathrust. Although likely unrelated, this quake comes at the heels of a M 5.2 shock off the south shore of Java on 4 July.
