Today’s magnitude-6.6 was far enough offshore to cause no damage. But this thrust event likely struck on or just above the Hellenic Arc megathrust zone, which ruptured in AD 365 in a magnitude-8 event that caused widespread destruction and a tsunami, hurling ships 3 km inland.
