Comparison of CA USGS and CHIMP seismic hazard map

Comparison of maximum shaking intensity at sites in the CHIMP dataset to those forecast at the same sites by the USGS hazard map. The hazard map predicts higher-intensity and more shaking than the CHIMP dataset, even considering the fact that the hazard map’s return period of 475 years is longer than the timespan of the CHIMP dataset.
