This figure shows the percentage of insurance policies with earthquake coverage (top) and the likely earthquake magnitude in your lifetime according to the Global Earthquake Activity Rate (GEAR) model. The GEAR model uses global strain rates and the last 40 years of seismicity to forecast future events. This comparison highlights how the majority of earthquake coverage in Washington is in areas where M=6.25+ quakes are likely.
